The Sectional Profile tab brings sectional data to the racecard before the race. Open any racecard, select Sectional Profile, and the tab displays stride length, cadence, maximum stride and finishing-speed percentage for every runner — all drawn from its most recent race of the same type.
What the figures show
Average stride length measures ground covered per stride, in feet. Cadence is strides per second — the rhythm of the gallop. Max stride shows the longest single stride a horse reached; a wide gap between max and average indicates reserve speed.
Finishing-speed percentage expresses how fast a horse finished relative to its own average pace in that race. A figure over 100 means the horse accelerated late.
Reading stride types
A long stride with low, even cadence and finishing speed over 100 describes a relaxed galloper with stamina in reserve. A short, quick stride identifies a speed type suited to sharp trips.
How to use it
The tab shows each runner's RaceMetrics Rating, likely run style, and a Draw and Tactical score that contextualises that style within today's draw and pace. A gold ring marks horses sitting in a winning draw-and-pace sweet spot.
Tap any runner to open its stride map — stride length and cadence, furlong by furlong, through that past race. A stride that holds or lengthens through the final furlongs indicates a horse galloping to the line; a late drop in both figures marks the moment it emptied.
Coverage and availability
Sectional Profile is a Proform Premium feature requiring the Sectionals add-on. It is currently in beta. Coverage spans every British racecourse.
A runner displays figures only if it has a past race of the same type carrying sectional data. First-time runners over a discipline show no same-type sectional figures yet.
A Share Feedback button within the feature allows users to report requests for future development.
