Glorious Goodwood has always been difficult to isolate in the System Builder. The meeting runs from late July into early August, which means a single-month filter cannot hold it in one piece across the calendar.

The new Date in Year filter solves this. It sits with the other race filters in System Builder and uses a preset window rather than fixed calendar dates. Select the Glorious Goodwood preset, and it sets a window from 26 July to 5 August. That window repeats in every season, so it finds the festival wherever the fixture list moves it to.

A single run now captures the entire meeting: 2,118 runners across the last five runnings. The filter also excludes Goodwood's separate August fixture, which is a considerably weaker meeting.

How to use it

Start in System Builder with the course: Goodwood. Then add the Date in Year filter and click the Glorious Goodwood preset. Run the query to retrieve the full dataset.

The same technique applies to other split meetings. The Punchestown preset sets a window from 25 April to 4 May, capturing that spring festival across every year in the database.

A note on interpretation

The raw dataset is a starting point, not an edge. Glorious Goodwood produces large fields that throw up big-priced winners. The analysis work happens in the breakdowns: which trainers travel well to the meeting, which sires, and how the draw behaves on cards that average more than 13 runners.
