Market Movers: Track the Money in Real Time
Market Movers is a dedicated racecard tab that displays the complete price journey for every runner across the betting day. Watch how odds shift from Evening through Breakfast to Morning, and see the BSP (Betfair Starting Price) once races have been run. All three price formats — fractional, decimal, and implied probability — appear side by side for instant comparison.
What You'll See
Four colour-coded headers mark each time period: sky blue for Evening, amber for Breakfast, sunset orange for Morning, and indigo for BSP (when available). Beneath each sits three sub-columns showing the same odds in different formats.
- Frac: Bookmaker fractions (e.g. 9/4)
- Dec: Decimal odds
- %: Implied probability
Between each price block, a narrow Move column tracks the shift in percentage points. Green signals steaming (backed); red signals drifting (opposed). The amber Full Move column at the end summarises the total swing from Evening to Morning — your headline signal.
A Book % footer beneath each period shows the market's overround, so you can see how the bookies' margin tightens as race-time approaches.
Reading the Movement Bands
Movement is measured in percentage points, not percent. A horse shifting from 20% to 25% implied probability shows +5 pp, regardless of underlying fractions.
- Strong steamer (≥ +10 pp): Serious money wagered
- Medium steamer (+5 to +10 pp): Clear support
- Mild steamer (+1 to +5 pp): Light backing
- Negligible (−1 to +1 pp): Price held firm
- Mild drifter (−1 to −5 pp): Slight easing
- Strong drifter (≤ −5 pp): Heavy opposition
Each Move column — Breakfast, Morning, and Full — isolates where support or drift occurred, helping you distinguish fresh money from overnight betting patterns.
