RaceMetrics has added Gate Speed Scores to Predicted Running Styles on every racecard. The score measures stalls-break speed on a 0–100 scale, derived from real stalls-break telemetry across each horse's last five runs.

The score feeds directly into the Predicted Running Styles model. Horses with high gate scores break faster and hit the front early more often — fast-gate horses hit the front early twice as often as the slowest starters.

How it works

Each horse receives a Gate Speed Score before the race. A high score (such as 84) flags a likely front runner; a low score suggests a horse that breaks slowly or settles off the pace.

Gate Speed Scores are available for Proform Premium subscribers with the Sectionals add-on.
