Ask RaceMetrics is the natural language query tool built into RaceMetrics — type an analytical question about horse racing form in plain English and it answers from twenty-five years of racing data, usually within seconds. The video above puts it through its paces with two genuinely hard questions.

How it works

The feature processes queries across trainer records, sire records, and track-specific performance data. It compares current form against five-year benchmarks and applies filters based on race conditions, horse status, and venue.

Example queries

A user can ask: "Which trainers improve a horse for its first run after a gelding operation?" The tool returns every first-time gelding on that day's card, showing each trainer's post-gelding record measured as average percentage of rivals beaten, compared to their own five-year benchmark.

Another query: "Which sires' runners perform significantly better at Kempton than on other all-weather or turf tracks?" The tool runs cross-surface comparisons across five years of form, showing only sires with at least ten percentage points advantage at that specific venue.
