RaceMetrics has released 3D Pace Preview, a feature that visualises how the early pace of an upcoming race is likely to unfold. Rather than analysing a race after it has been run, this tool predicts the probable shape of the race before the stalls open.

How it works

The feature uses RaceMetrics' Predicted Running Styles — derived from each horse's sectional history — to determine which runners are likely to lead, race prominently, or be held up. When activated, the animation shows the field breaking from their drawn stalls, then moving toward their predicted early positions.

Front-runners advance to contest the lead. Hold-up horses drift toward the rear to save their run for later stages. Other runners settle into their likely positions based on their sectional profiles. The animation pauses to show the predicted shape of the race: where the pace sits, which horses have cover, and which will need circumstances to fall in their favour.

Where to find it

3D Pace Preview is available on every upcoming racecard that includes sectional data. It is part of Proform Premium, accessible with the Sectionals add-on.
